CRAB offers a number of unique programs that are found in only a handful of places in the U.S., and demand for our programs is growing. Our goal is to make CRAB’s programs a model for disabled sailing programs across the nation.
Designed to introduce persons with disabilities and their families to the therapeutic value and pure joy of the wind and water, while sailing on Chesapeake Bay. The SailFree program is scheduled one Sunday each month from April through October.
Open to organizations representing persons with disabilities, disabled veterans, and disadvantaged youth. Group sails are by appointment only. Please contact CRAB to schedule a Group Sail.
Competitive racing opportunities are offered for skippers and crew, in our Freedom 20’s. Typical racing events include intramural races, the Don Backe Memorial CRAB Cup in June, the Boatyard Bar and Grill Regatta in August, and the Recovering Warrior Sailing Regattas in April and September.
We offer specially arranged sailing and racing events for Wounded Warriors and their families. In cooperation with the Paralyzed Veterans of America, CRAB has offered two-day sailing clinics specifically for learning to sail and race.
We offer weekday and weekend sails for recovering warriors and their family and friends. We are happy to schedule sails for individual family members/friends and group sails for multiple people.
Please call or email to get more information or to schedule a sail.
The core of our fleet is the Freedom 20 sailboat. In addition, we have two Catalina Capri 22's, a Martin 16 with a "Sip & Puff" steering system, a canoe, and a kayak.
